Students taking classes in the Jewelry/ Metalsmithing area learn basic metal fabrication and construction methods used to create jewelry and small scale sculpture. Students are encouraged to think creatively, explore alternative materials, and work across disciplines and media. Jewelry/Metalsmithing is an area rich with history and tradition, where artists have the opportunity to create meaningful, lasting objects of adornment and art.
Career options for metalsmiths include becoming a jeweler, studio artist, museum or jewelry store restoration worker, designer for industry, dental lab technician or teacher. |
Valdosta State University is located in South Georgia, 3.5 hours from Atlanta and 1.5 hours from Tallahassee, FL. Our program offers 4 undergraduate degrees in Art, Art Education and Interior Design.
